I have been teaching exercise and healthy lifestyle habits since 1998. It is a huge part of mine and my entire family’s life. I work with small groups and individuals of all levels to meet their personal health and fitness goals. I practice what I preach and enjoy sharing the benefits of living a healthy lifestyle.
Qualified and Certified
I received my bachelor’s in Exercise Science with a minor in Business from Wichita State University in 1999. Along with my college experience, I have continued to expand my education with my ACE personal trainer certification, Yoga Fundamentals I & II, and FiTour Kickboxing certifications to ensure my clients receive the expertise they expect and the care they deserve. I also continue to add to my education by attending continuing education sessions each and every year. My most recent accreditation is my RRCA (Roads Runners Club of America) Running Coach Certification. I help runners of all levels begin new running programs, improve on their current programs, as well as stay injury-free in their endeavors.
Living and Sharing My Passion
I became passionate about running more than twelve years ago, a love resultant with the completion of numerous races ranging from 5k to 100 mile ultra-marathons. My favorite distance is the 50k and favorite race, the infamous 50k (31 Miles) Mountain Mist trail race held each year at Monte Sano State Park. I have been a proud member of the Fleet Feet Huntsville race team for several years, which allows me to represent Fleet Feet at races all over the country, as well as coach their awesome training programs for the running community. I design and help coach their marathon training program, which helps runners prepare for the Rocket City Marathon, for which I am also a pacer for. The rewards of this role are exponential!
In 2007, I went on to start my own personal training business as my family and I transitioned to Huntsville, Alabama. Additionally, I teach physical education at the University of Alabama at Huntsville, as well as a variety of group fitness classes including Boot Camp, Kickboxing, and Yoga, to name a few. I work closely with each client to define a starting point through a baseline health assessment, establishing client goal and development of an exercise program that is specifically tailored for each person. There are no “cookie cutter” workouts. I will be the first to tell you “there is no easy fix” for being fit and strong. A tailored exercise plan, healthy eating habits, hard work and determination deliver results.
